Who We Are
Habari Financial Services is a microfinance Institution registered in Uganda. It was incorporated under the Companies Act and regulated by Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA). Habari Financial Services provides specially designed range of lending and saving services to Ugandans especially to those who do not have access to the mainstream commercial banking services.
Habari financial services focuses on Client satisfaction by offering high value of services. All products and services are competitively priced and customer services are one of the best in microfinance institutions industry in Uganda. At Habari financial services we are committed to responsible financing.
The microfinance market in Uganda plays an important role in enabling the low-income section of the population access to financial services.
It emerged as a market in the early 1990’s during which it was dominated by a few institutions, mainly NGOs, government credit programmes and specialized financial institutions including one commercial bank and about five Microfinance institutions (MFIs) serving about 120,000 clients. Overtime, the market has registered a sizeable growth in terms of number of institutions and clients. By early 2000, client numbers increased to over 1,000,000 and the sector started attracting competition from commercial banks that recognized the business potential in delivering microfinance services.
There is evidence of increased private sector investment in microfinance as more MFIs prepare for regulation in order to access savings as a more reliable and cheaper source of funding. There are also increased business partnerships between Banks and MFIs and in some cases takeovers by banks.
